2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Owner’s Manual PDF
The 2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport looks more aggressive at the expense of the third row of seats. Other than that, the Cross Sport and its sibling are essentially identical. Even the engine options are similar: Standard is a 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and an optional 276-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine.
2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Engine
Only the 3.6-liter V-6 with front-wheel drive has been tested of the two available engines. Although we have not tested the 235-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, this engine propelled the three-row Volkswagen to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds. It proved marginally speedier than a similarly equipped three-row Atlas, reaching 60 mph in 7.5 seconds.
During the test drive, the Cross Sport lacks the sporty driving qualities suggested by its fastback rear end. The ride quality is also less smooth than anticipated, with the wheels banging over every flaw and pothole.
2021 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Interior
Despite a redesigned stitched door panels and steering wheel, the Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport’s interior will be relatively familiar to those familiar with the three-row Volkswagen. Adults should find comfortable seating in either SUV’s four rows, although, unlike the standard Atlas, the Cross Sport has only a bench for its second row.
