Owners Manual Description

2019 Volkswagen e-Golf Owners Manual

The 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf is a five-seat hatchback that is entirely electric. The EPA estimates it has a 125-mile driving range identical to the gas models. That’s less than the Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Bolt EV ranges, both electric cars.

The 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf is a five-seat hatchback that is entirely electric. According to the EPA, it has a 125-mile driving range and the same large, adaptable interior as the gas-powered counterpart. The Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Bolt EV offer greater degrees at the same price.

There are two different voltage options for charging available for the electric Golf. On 120-volt household electricity, a full charge takes about 26 hours, but on 240-volt, it takes less than six hours. This feature is included with both the SE and the SEL Premium models.

A DC fast-charging station can charge the e-Golf to 80 percent in just one hour using this setup. While the six-hour charge time is acceptable, we’d prefer a longer battery life in exchange for a more excellent range. Although the e-Golf appears quick, it took 8.5 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph in our tests, two seconds slower than the Bolt EV.

There have long been Golfs in the compact class that are capable and enjoyable to drive, and the e-Golf stays true to that tradition. Light, precise steering, and predictable answers to driver inputs make it agile and responsive.

The inside materials of SE and SEL Premium e-Golfs change slightly because there are only two trim levels and a few optional packages to choose from. The upper-trim model’s only extras are faux-leather upholstery, a self-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient lighting. There is only partial power for driver and front passenger seat inclination in both trim levels, so drivers and passengers must use manual controls to alter seat height or fore-aft posture.

Compared to the e-Golf SE, which has an 8.0-inch touchscreen, the SEL Premium has a 9.3-inch display. The SEL Premium has navigation and is easy to operate. It also has a sleek appearance. Standard features include:

  • An eight-speaker audio system.
  • Apple CarPlay.
  • Android Auto.
  • MirrorLink (a third and less frequent method of phone streaming).
