Owners Manual Description
2018 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Owner’s Manual
Volkswagen continues to appeal to the little car crowd with the Beetle convertible, a topless variation on a modern design reminiscent of droptop variants of the famous air-cooled compact from decades past.
This sleek four-seater receives a new engine for 2018 in the form of a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder that adds a few horsepowers over the 1.8L it replaces while matching the previous engine’s 184 lb-ft of torque and promising a modest improvement in fuel economy. The new engine is a detuned version of the redesigned crossover Volkswagen Tiguan engine, which is also due this year.
2018 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible Interior
Huge windows and a high roof make the front of the Beetle Convertible feel airy, while large doors and a high roof make entry and exit relatively easy. Once inside, forward visibility is excellent, but rearward visibility is compromised by a small rear window, a sloping roof, and the retractable soft-top roof. Two adults can sit comfortably, but the seating is better suited for narrower individuals.
The incredibly comfy rear seats are undoubtedly an attempt to compensate for the apparent lack of space in the back. There has minimal legroom and almost no headroom. This is not a suitable seat for adults or anyone else when a long ride is anticipated. Back to the front, where you’ll spend most of your time, the materials are of adequate quality, but, unlike the Golf, the Beetle favors plastic surfaces over those with a soft touch.
